Godella and Rocafort are twin towns just northwest of Valencia that offer something the city cannot: houses with gardens, quiet streets, and a village pace of life, all within 20 minutes of the city centre by metro. For families with children, especially those attending international schools, this area is the go-to choice.

The appeal is straightforward. Where a Valencia city apartment might give you 80 square meters, a Godella house can offer 150+ square meters with a private garden and sometimes a pool. The towns have their own centres with shops, restaurants, and weekly markets, creating a self-contained community feel that many families prefer.

International schools are the area's biggest draw. Several of Valencia's top international schools (British, American, and French curricula) are located in or near Godella and Rocafort. The morning school run is a 5-minute drive rather than a cross-city commute, which saves families significant daily time and stress.

The trade-off is urban convenience. You will need a car for most errands, the nightlife is nonexistent, and the cultural offering is limited compared to the city. Public transport exists (metro Line 1) but is less frequent than city services. For expats who thrive on city energy, Godella will feel too quiet. But for families who want space, safety, and school proximity, it is hard to beat.
