About the venue
Inaugurated on 10 November 1915 on the site of a former convent, the Olympia opened as an opera and theatre house before becoming a cinema in the 1920s. It even projected Valencia's first sound film in 1930.
In 1984 it was restored for live theatre, and it has been a commercial powerhouse ever since, programming the kind of plays, musicals and comedy that draw big local audiences. Its scale and central location make it a natural first stop for theatre in the city.
Because it sits in the pedestrian heart of the old town, a night at the Olympia pairs easily with dinner nearby. The interior keeps much of its early-twentieth-century character despite the modern programming.
Tips for your visit
Tickets are sold online and at the theatre box office. Popular musicals and comedy runs sell out, so book ahead for weekend dates.
It is in a pedestrian zone, so arrive on foot or by metro rather than trying to park nearby. Xativa and Colon stations are both an easy walk.
The surrounding old-town streets are full of bars and restaurants, making it simple to turn a show into a full evening out.
