How to use the Valencia expat directory
When we first arrived, the hardest part of any small problem was not the problem itself - it was finding someone trustworthy to fix it without speaking fluent Spanish. A leaking tap, a car that failed the ITV inspection, a contract that needed a sworn translation: each one meant a nervous afternoon of Google Maps reviews in a language we half-understood. This directory is the answer to that. Every category below points to vetted, English-comfortable professionals in Valencia, so you can skip the guesswork and get straight to a name you can call.
Pick the category that matches your problem
The nine categories map to the things that actually come up in an expat's first year - medical care, wellness, language schools, car mechanics, certified translators, home maintenance, legal advice, cleaning and pet services. Click any card to see the shortlisted providers for that need. If your issue spans two categories, for example a legal translation, start with translators for sworn documents and legal for advice on what the document needs to say.
What "vetted" actually means here
Every listing has been used by someone in the Valencia expat community and confirmed to work comfortably with non-Spanish speakers. We are not a paid-placement site - businesses cannot buy a higher spot. A listing means a real person had a good experience, the provider answered in English or had English-speaking staff, and the pricing was transparent. It is the recommendation we would give a friend, not an advert.
Expect Spanish-style pricing and booking
English-speaking does not mean expat-priced. Most providers here charge normal local rates - a GP consultation at a private clinic from around 50 to 80 EUR, a sworn translation of a birth certificate roughly 40 to 70 EUR per document, a standard home cleaning visit about 12 to 18 EUR an hour. Booking is often by phone or WhatsApp rather than an online form, and a same-week appointment is realistic for most non-urgent services.
Combine the directory with our other tools
The directory solves the "who do I call" question. If you are still deciding where to live, the Barrio Matcher narrows down neighbourhoods, and the Cost Calculator turns a barrio choice into a real monthly budget. Many people work through all three: choose an area, price it out, then line up the medical, legal and maintenance contacts they will need in the first month before the moving van even arrives.
