Carpesa
Largest of the historic Pobles del Nord villages with a 17th-century church
Living in Carpesa
Carpesa is the largest of the seven Pobles del Nord villages, sitting about 6 km north of Valencia centre. The barrio's core is built around the 17th-century parish church Nostra Senyora de l'Assumpcio and a small grid of village streets. Around 1,000 people live here, which by Pobles del Nord standards makes Carpesa the de facto local hub, with a couple of bars, a small grocery, a pharmacy and a primary school.
Housing is a mix of older village houses, post-1990 chalets and a few small flats. EMT bus 16 connects to the city centre in about 30 minutes, with hourly frequency on most days. The trade-off is the same as the other Pobles del Nord barrios: real village quiet and the cheapest tier of city-limit rent, in exchange for car dependence and minimal English-language services.
