La Torre
Southern barrio combining La Torre and Faitanar with a metro link and post-2010 mid-rise
Living in La Torre
La Torre is one of the more urban-feeling Pobles del Sud barrios, combining the traditional village of La Torre with the smaller settlement of Faitanar. About 5,500 people live here, mostly in the post-2010 mid-rise blocks built on former agricultural land south of the V-30 ring road. The barrio's profile sits closer to a planned modern suburb than to the smaller huerta and lagoon villages of the rest of District 19.
Metro line 1 stops at La Torre station inside the barrio, putting central Valencia about 12 minutes away. The newer blocks come with lifts, AC and double-glazing as standard, with rents that sit clearly below central Valencia. The trade-off is character: the streetscape is functional rather than charming, large commercial chains dominate, and there is no historic core to compare to the older Pobles del Sud villages.
