Padr贸n Appointment in Valencia: How to Book the Cita Previa
Every padr贸n counter in Valencia city runs a cita previa system, and none of them strictly requires it. This guide covers the two booking routes, the eleven offices with hours, what to bring so the visit is not wasted, and what to do when the calendar shows nothing.
The cita previa () for the padr贸n () is booked on valencia.es or by phoning 010, and the council treats it as a way to skip the queue rather than a condition of being seen.
The Ajuntament de Val猫ncia offers a padr贸n appointment through its own booking site and through the 010 information line. The city's own wording is that it recommends one to avoid queues and unnecessary waits, and both the Juntas Municipales () and the central office also see people without one for several padr贸n tasks. Every padr贸n procedure is free of charge.

Six things the council's pages settle before you book.
Online, on valencia.es
Tr谩mites, then Cita previa, then Cita Previa Padr贸n. Fill in your details, pick a date and time from those offered and print or save the reminder. The same page lets you check or cancel a booking.
By phone: 010
Free from a Valencia number; 96 310 00 10 from outside the city. Monday to Friday 8:30 to 18:30 and Saturdays 9:00 to 14:00. The padr贸n office also lists 96 208 11 04.
Eleven offices take padr贸n
The central office at the Casa Consistorial, the OAC at the old Tabacalera and nine Juntas Municipales. The three Juntas in the pobles book by phone or email only, and two of them open for padr贸n on set days.
One appointment per person
The Sede states one cita per person unless you are registering as a family unit, and the booking page asks for a separate appointment for each separate procedure.
Hours: 8:30 to 14:00
Monday to Friday at every office, following the council's working calendar. On Thursdays from 10:00 to 12:00 the Juntas give priority to people over 65.
Not strictly required
Altas and address changes are taken without an appointment at the Casa Consistorial's Periodista Azzati entrance, and the Juntas state that a cita is not necessary. It buys you a fixed time, nothing more.
The online route, step by step
Start at valencia.es, Tr谩mites, Cita previa and choose the padr贸n form. The booking system asks for your personal details, offers the available dates and times and hands you a reminder to print or save. Appointments are given as time intervals, and the time shown is when you should be at the reception desk, not the moment you will be seen.
You choose the office when you book, so pick the one you can actually reach at 8:30 rather than the closest by name: the central office at Pla莽a de l'Ajuntament (entrance on Carrer Periodista Azzati, 2), the Oficina de Atenci贸n Ciudadana in the old Tabacalera (Carrer Amadeu de Savoia, 11) or one of the Juntas Municipales with a padr贸n counter.
If you need to change or cancel, the same page has a consult and cancel link. Book a second slot if you are also doing something else at the same counter, such as a certificate for a family member: the council is explicit that one appointment covers one procedure.

By phone, and the Juntas that only book by phone
The 010 line takes padr贸n appointments for the same offices as the website. It is free from a Valencia number, answers Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 18:30 and on Saturdays from 9:00 to 14:00, and from outside the city you call 96 310 00 10 at a normal local rate.
Three Juntas in the pobles are not on the online calendar at all. Pobles del Nord (Pla莽a del Poble, 4, Carpesa) books on 96 301 30 55 or jmpoblesdelnord@valencia.es and does padr贸n on Mondays and Wednesdays; Pobles del Sud (Carrer Poetessa Leonor Perales, Castellar) books on 963 013 023 and does padr贸n on Tuesdays and Thursdays; Benim脿met-Beniferri (Carrer Senda de Secanet, 43) books on 963 013 436 and opens every weekday.
Phone works well for people whose passport number the website will not accept, and it is the only route to those three offices. It is not faster: the operator sees the same calendar you do.

Worth knowing
The booking page asks for punctuality and gives the time as an interval: be at the reception desk at the start of it. Missing the slot means booking again, and the same page lets you cancel if you cannot make it.
The offices, with addresses and hours
All eleven counters open Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 14:00 according to the council's working calendar, so a public holiday or a local festivity closes them. The full-week Juntas with a padr贸n counter are Abastos (Carrer d'Alberic, 18), Tr脿nsits (Carrer del Comte de Lumiares, 5), Mar铆tim (Carrer de la Barraca, 53), Patraix (Carrer del Beat Nicolau Factor, 1), Exposici贸 (Carrer de la Gu脿rdia Civil, 19) and Russafa (Carrer de Maties Perell贸, 5).
The Casa Consistorial splits its padr贸n work by door. Altas and changes of address without an appointment go through the padr贸n office on Carrer Periodista Azzati; appointments, certificates without appointment and the two-yearly renewals for non-EU residents go through the Gesti贸n Tributaria entrance on Carrer de l'Arquebisbe Mayoral. Turning up at the wrong door costs you a walk around the building, not the morning.
The padr贸n offices page on valencia.es is the list to trust. The council's general page on the Juntas Municipales still names only six Juntas for padr贸n, so when two municipal pages disagree, use the padr贸n-specific one, which the Sede's procedure page matches.
What to bring, and what to do when no slot appears
Bring originals, or officially certified copies, of everything: an identity document in force for every adult, the housing document with the property's cadastral reference (or a recent IBI receipt or nota simple that shows it), and for a rental a contract of more than six months signed by everyone named plus the last rent receipt paid within the last two months. Documents in a language other than Spanish or Valencian need a sworn translation, and any authorisation is valid for one month from its date. The full list is in our empadronamiento guide.
When the calendar shows nothing, you have four options. Walk in: the Periodista Azzati office takes altas and address changes without a cita, and the Juntas say one is not necessary. Phone 010 and ask for any office. File the registration through the Sede Electr贸nica if you hold a digital certificate. Or, if what you actually need is a certificate of a registration you already have, skip the appointment entirely: those are issued without one.
The council publishes no waiting-time figures, and we will not invent one. What it does commit to is that an in-person alta is dealt with at the counter and a certificate is issued on the spot, while an online filing is not automatic and can take up to three months.
Mistakes that cost a morning
Booking one slot for two people
Each adult registering needs their own appointment unless you come as one family unit. Two flatmates who turn up on one cita will be asked to book again.
Bringing photocopies instead of originals
In-person filings need originals or certified copies. A scan or a photo of an electronically signed document is only valid if it carries a CSV verification code.
Going to a Junta that does not do padr贸n
Nine of the Juntas Municipales take padr贸n, and Ciutat Vella at the Parterre is not one of them. Check the padr贸n offices list, not the general Juntas page.
Booking an appointment for a certificate
A certificate of a registration you already hold is issued without one, on the spot at any padr贸n office, and can be requested by phone or online. See volante and certificado.

At the Casa Consistorial, use the door that matches your case. The registration is processed at the counter; ask for your certificate before you leave if another procedure is waiting on it.
Why the cita previa is optional here
Spanish municipalities run their padr贸n counters differently, and Valencia's choice is to keep walk-in access open. The council describes the appointment as a way to be seen at a fixed time and to avoid queues, and its offices page names the padr贸n door that takes altas without one. That is unusual enough that people arriving from Madrid or Barcelona assume the rule is the opposite.
It also explains the two-door system at the Casa Consistorial: one entrance handles the walk-in altas and changes of address, the other handles appointments, certificates and the renewals. The Juntas Municipales combine everything at one counter, which is why an early arrival at a Junta is usually the quickest morning of the three.
