Kitesurfing in Valencia as a group

The coast around Valencia has wide beaches and regular wind in the right seasons, with specific rules on where kites may launch.

Where a kitesurf group can ride near Valencia

Kitesurfing on this coast is allowed only inside marked zones, and there are few of them. The one closest to the city is the buoyed channel at El Perellonet, about 20 km (about 12 mi) south of the centre, where the city's municipal sports foundation publishes the conditions of use.

Those conditions are specific: you enter and leave through the channel at no more than 3 knots, ride beyond the 200 metre (about 656 ft) line, make no jumps inside the channel, and must hold valid third-party liability insurance.

When the wind works for a kitesurf group

In summer, the sea breeze usually fills in during the afternoon after a still morning, so a group's day is built around it. Spring and autumn are the best compromise: the thermals still run and the beaches are quieter.

Beginners should learn with a school that teaches inside the permitted zone. Our kitesurfing guide covers the winds, the spots and the rules.
