Hiking near Valencia as a group
Valencia sits between the sea and a ring of hills. The Serra Calderona rises to the north of the city, the Turia has cut gorges with cliff paths to the west, and the Albufera to the south has flat walks through pine forest and rice fields.

Hiking trails a group can reach from Valencia
The Serra Calderona natural park is the nearest mountain walking, with pine-covered ridges and views back over the plain to the sea. To the west, the hanging bridges at Chulilla and the Ruta del Agua at Chelva follow the Turia and its streams through limestone gorges.
Our guide to hiking near Valencia lists eight trails with distances and driving times, and our Chulilla hanging bridges guide covers the most popular of them.
Wildfire risk and the best season to hike near Valencia
Spring and autumn are the best seasons to walk. In summer, the regional government sets a daily wildfire risk level, and at its highest level walking on trails through forest land is prohibited.
That makes summer the hardest season for a group programme, so the level is checked before every day out. Our guide to wildfires in the Valencia region explains how the levels work.
