Living in Albors: a Valencia neighborhood guide

Albors (play_arrow) is the residential strip of Camins al Grau between L'Amistat to the north, the Aiora flats to the east and the modern Penya-roja blocks to the south. It is the quietest part of the district - dense apartment blocks from the 1970s and 1980s, wide pavements, supermarkets every two blocks and almost no nightlife.

Albors has the same name in Valencian and Castilian; we have not found a reliable source for the origin of the name. According to the Ajuntament's municipal register, 9,069 people lived here on 1 January 2025, on 25.6 hectares (about 63 acres).

Housing is mostly 80-100 square metre flats with balconies and lifts. The building stock is younger than in centre barrios so air conditioning, lifts and double-glazing are common.

Transport: Amistat metro (L5, L7) is at the northern edge and reaches Colón in 5 minutes, and Aragon metro (L5, L7) is a short walk away too. EMT bus 4 connects to Plaça de l'Ajuntament in about 14 minutes.

Two venues give Albors more daily life than its quiet streets suggest. The Mercat d'Algirós, the covered municipal market on Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, stands in the middle of the barrio and, despite its name, belongs to Albors rather than to the Algirós district; on Monday mornings a street market fills the streets around it. Trade-offs: streetscape is plain 1970s-80s blocks, the social tempo is quiet rather than vibrant and there are few destination restaurants. But for couples and small families who want a calm centre-adjacent address with the L5/L7 within easy reach, Albors is one of the best practical mid-tier choices in eastern Valencia.
