Swimming pools in Valencia: municipal pools, prices and how to join

Valencia's municipal pools by barrio: which are covered and open all year, which open only for the summer, what a swim costs and the rules at the poolside.

Valencia has a large network of municipal pools run by the city's sports foundation, and most newcomers never find out because the details are spread over one page per facility.

This guide puts them in one place. Each pool is listed with the address from the foundation's own page and placed in its barrio, so you can see what is on your street before you pick a flat. We found fourteen covered pools that stay open all year and eight open-air pools that run from June to early September.

Sea swimming is free and a short ride away, so the pools are mostly for lane swimming, children's lessons and shade. Prices come from the foundation's public price schedule, and the summer dates are the ones it published for 2026. Dates change every year, so check the facility page before you go.

Swimming in Valencia at a glance

The numbers most people look for first, taken from the foundation's official schedules.

A single swim

A 60-minute covered-pool entry costs €3.85, or €1.80 on the reduced rate. Outdoor pools charge €3.35 for a daytime entry and €4.60 at night (reduced €1.70 and €3.35). These prices come from the schedule in force since 25 May 2023.

Passes

A ten-entry covered-pool pass costs €34.65 and a twenty-entry pass €61.60. The outdoor season pass is €75.25. At centres run by the foundation itself, the monthly sports pass is €31.95 for adults.

Summer pools

Eight open-air pools open between mid-June and early September in 2026: Parque del Oeste, Benicalap, Benimaclet, Nazaret, Benimàmet, La Hípica, Castellar-l'Oliveral and El Palmar.

Opening hours

Covered pools open from 7:00 or 8:00 until 22:00 or 23:00 on weekdays and close earlier at weekends. In summer the free swim at open-air pools mostly runs from about 12:00 to 18:30 or 19:00.

Poolside rules

A swim cap is compulsory in covered pools, you must shower before you first enter the water, and children under 14 need an adult with them.

Residents and prices

The public price schedule gives residents no lower price for a single swim. Being registered in the city matters only for the free social sports pass.

Who runs Valencia's municipal pools

The pools belong to the city and sit under the Fundación Deportiva Municipal (FDM), the city's sports foundation. Some, such as Nazaret, Benimaclet and Font de Sant Lluís, are run by the foundation itself. Others are run by a company under contract, among them Piscina Ayora, Abastos, Malilla and Samaranch, and each of those has its own front desk and its own pass options.

Covered pools open all year, while open-air pools open only for the summer season. The city sets one public price schedule for all of them, and the centres run by contractors add pass options of their own on top.

Covered pools open all year, by barrio

These are the covered pools on the foundation's facility pages, each placed in the barrio it stands in. The foundation labels them by district, so the barrio here comes from the city's own barrio boundaries instead. That is why Piscina Ayora appears under Aiora and not under Algirós.

Hours are the facility's opening hours, not the free-swim windows, which vary by day and are posted at each desk. Nazaret's covered pool needs a phone appointment for free swim. Rambleta and Marxalenes are shown by district because their barrio could not be confirmed against the city's boundaries.

Open-air summer pools and their 2026 dates

Eight municipal open-air pools open between mid-June and early September. The foundation published these dates for the 2026 season and repeats the exercise every year with small changes, so read them as the usual pattern and not as a promise for next summer.

Parque del Oeste adds a children's water park, slides and a Friday night swim, and the foundation lists ten themed night parties there on summer Fridays (you must confirm attendance). Benicalap's single pool covers 2,243 square metres and has slides. In the 2026 programme the foundation offered 2,406 course places across five of these pools.

What a swim costs: public prices and passes

Figures come from the foundation's public price schedule in force since 25 May 2023, which its website still publishes as the current text. The reduced rate applies to people under 16, pensioners and retirees over 65, and people with a disability of 33 per cent or more, and you must show proof.

Centres run by contractors, including Ayora, Abastos, Malilla and Samaranch, list a separate €7.60 single entry in the same schedule, which covers their whole facility, plus monthly passes of their own. Ask the front desk whether a pool-only swim is charged at the €3.85 municipal price or at the €7.60 entry before you pay.

Schedules change and promotions apply from time to time, so use these numbers to compare options and confirm the amount at the desk. Sign-up fees apply on top of the monthly pass at contractor-run centres.

Swimming lessons and lane swimming

Municipal pools run courses for babies from one year old, pre-schoolers, school-age children, adults, over-65s and swimmers with a disability, plus aquagym and therapeutic swimming. The mix differs by pool, so check the facility page for the courses it offers.

For reference, the schedule prices adult covered-pool lessons at €24.25 a month for one session a week, and school-age lessons (5 to 15 years) at €20.60 a month. The summer block of ten 45-minute classes costs €41.70 for adults and €31.10 for children.

For lane swimming, use the free-swim sessions. The schedule also lets groups hire a lane for 60 minutes (€25.00 in a covered pool), so ask the desk whether that is possible at the pool you choose.

How to join and what to bring

For a single swim you pay at the desk and need no membership. For a pass or a course you sign up at the centre. Foundation family passes cover parents and children under 26 (up to three people, or four or more) and need a photocopy of the Spanish family record book to prove the household. The reduced rate must be proved in advance.

Being registered in the city does not change the price of a swim. It matters for one thing: the free social sports pass for people in financial or social difficulty, which asks for proof of residence (a registration certificate, or a utility bill, rental contract or school enrolment) plus proof of a benefit such as the minimum income.

Poolside rules at municipal pools

The city's sports facilities regulation sets the rules. In covered pools a swimsuit and a swim cap are compulsory, you must shower before you first enter the water, and glasses are not allowed in the water. Diving masks, fins and hand paddles are banned unless the pool says otherwise.

At every municipal pool, children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult, animals are not allowed, and food and glass stay out of the wet area. The text recommends flip-flops in the changing rooms. It dates from the regulation's initial approval in 2010, so a pool may add rules of its own.

Sea swimming as an alternative to a pool

The city's beaches are free and a short metro or bus ride from most barrios. Our beach guide covers each beach, and the AEMET beach forecast publishes the daily conditions.

A pool is the better choice for lane training, lessons for small children and the days when the sea is cold or rough, because covered pools stay open all year. If you live near one, the barrio list below shows which.

Private clubs, gyms and hotel pools

This guide covers municipal pools only, because the city publishes their addresses, hours and prices. Private gyms, clubs and hotels set their own rates and access rules, and we do not quote them without a published source.

Which barrios have a pool

A covered pool stands in Aiora (Piscina Ayora), Arrancapins, Torrefiel, Orriols, Patraix, El Carmen, Malilla, Penya-roja, Nazaret and Benimàmet. Benimaclet, Castellar-l'Oliveral and El Palmar have a summer pool.

Albors, Illa Perduda, Ciutat Jardí and Beteró sit within about half a kilometre of Piscina Ayora. Each barrio page carries a pool card with the nearest pool, and the full list of barrios is in the neighborhoods guide.

Mistakes that cost you a swim

Arriving without a swim cap

A swim cap is compulsory in covered pools under the city's regulation. Bring one so you are not turned away at the poolside.

Treating a summer pool as year-round

Open-air pools run from mid-June to early September, and Castellar-l'Oliveral closes earlier, on 31 August. In winter you need a covered pool.

Missing the August timetable

Some covered pools move to summer timetables in August. Piscina Ayora, for instance, runs Monday to Friday 9:00-22:00 and Saturday 9:00-14:00 that month.

Turning up at Nazaret without an appointment

Free swim in Nazaret's covered pool needs a phone appointment, according to the foundation's page for the centre.

Closing periods and changes to check before you go

Some covered pools shift to summer timetables in August, and the foundation publishes each summer which centres close in part for maintenance. Check the facility page for the month you plan to swim.

Management changes too. The Complex Esportiu Cultural Petxina passed to direct foundation management in September 2025, and the swimming courses of the Valencian swimming federation moved to the Nou Moles municipal sports centre, so we do not list a pool at Petxina until the foundation confirms one.
